  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter softened
  • 2 large eggs room temperature

  • 1 cup fresh strawberries sliced
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F. Grease and flour a 9-inch round cake pan.
  • In a large mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour and baking powder. Set aside.
  • In another bowl, use an electric mixer to cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  • Gradually add the eggs to the butter mixture, beating well after each addition. Slowly incorporate the dry ingredients.
  • Pour the batter into the prepared pan and bake for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  • While the cake is baking, whip the heavy cream until soft peaks form. Fold in the sliced strawberries.
  • Once the cake is baked, let it cool completely on a wire rack. Spread the whipped cream and strawberry mixture over the top.
  • Decorate with additional strawberries or edible flowers for added visual appeal.

Serving

  • Slice the cake into 8 pieces and serve chilled for best flavor.
