  • 1/2 cup brown sugar packed
  • 2 large eggs room temperature
  • 1/2 cup sourdough discard room temperature
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt until well combined.
  • In another bowl, beat together the melted butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until smooth. Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. Stir in the sourdough discard and vanilla extract.
  • Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined. Fold in the chocolate chips.
  • Pour the brownie batter into a greased and floured 9-inch square baking pan. Smooth the top with a spatula and bake at 350°F for 45-50 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out with a few moist crumbs.

Serving

  • Allow the brownies to cool completely in the pan before cutting into slices. Serve with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or a dollop of whipped cream for a special treat.
