Equipment

  • 1 saucepan
  • 1 Mixing Bowl large
  • 1 electric mixer
  • 1 Baking Sheet lined with parchment paper
  • 1 Wire Rack

Ingredients

Main Ingredients

  • 1 cup unsalted butter
  • 1 1/4 cups brown sugar packed
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp sea salt
  • Sea salt flakes for sprinkling

Instructions

Preparation

  • Melt butter in a saucepan over medium heat. Stir continuously until it turns golden brown and develops a nutty aroma. Remove from heat and let cool.
  • In a large bowl, cream together the cooled brown butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until smooth. Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla.
  • In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt. Gradually add this to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.
  • Cover the dough with plastic wrap and chill in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes to firm up.
  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  • Scoop tablespoon-sized portions of dough onto the prepared baking sheet, spacing them about 2 inches apart.
  • Lightly sprinkle each cookie with sea salt flakes before baking.
  • Bake in the preheated oven for 12-15 minutes, or until the edges are golden and the centers are set.

Serving

  • Allow cookies to cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely. Serve with your favorite beverage.

Storage

  • Store cookies in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 5 days. For longer storage, freeze in a sealed bag for up to 3 months.
