Brownie Base

  • 1 cup unsalted butter
  • 8 oz semisweet chocolate chopped
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 tsp salt

Pecan Pie Topping

  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1/3 cup light corn syrup
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 2 cups pecans coarsely chopped
  • 1/4 tsp salt

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Preheat oven to 350°F. Grease a 9x13 inch baking pan. In a saucepan, melt butter and chocolate over low heat, stirring until smooth. In a large bowl, beat eggs and sugars until light. Mix in vanilla and chocolate mixture. Fold in flour and salt until just combined. Pour into the prepared pan.
  • In a saucepan, melt butter and brown sugar over medium heat. Stir until dissolved. Remove from heat and mix in corn syrup, vanilla, and salt. Stir in pecans. Spread evenly over brownie batter.

Serving

  • Bake for 35-40 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out with a few moist crumbs. Allow to cool completely in the pan before slicing into squares for serving.
