  • 2 cups powdered sugar
  • 1/4 cup heavy cream

Instructions

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F. Grease a 9x13-inch baking pan and set aside.
  • In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt. Set aside.
  • In a large mixing bowl, beat the butter and sugar together until light and fluffy, about 3 minutes.
  • Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract.
  • Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, mixing until just combined.
  • Spread the dough evenly in the prepared pan. Bake for 20-25 minutes or until the edges are golden brown. Allow to cool completely in the pan.

Frosting and Decoration

  • In a large bowl, beat the butter until creamy. Gradually add the powdered sugar, heavy cream, and vanilla extract, beating until smooth and fluffy.
  • Divide the frosting into three bowls. Leave one white and tint the other two with red and blue food coloring.
  • Spread the frosting over the cooled cookie bars in layers or swirls. Top with patriotic sprinkles.

Serving and Storage

  • Cut into bars and serve at room temperature. Perfect for parties and gatherings.
  • Store leftover bars in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days or refrigerate for up to a week.
