Equipment

  • 1 Baking Sheet lined with parchment paper
  • 1 Mixing Bowl large
  • 1 electric mixer

Ingredients

Dry Ingredients

  • 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 1/4 tsp salt

Wet Ingredients

  • 1 cup unsalted butter softened
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 3/4 cup brown sugar packed
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

Add-ins

  • 1 cup colorful candy pieces
  • 1/2 cup white chocolate chips optional

Instructions

Preparation

  • In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Set aside.
  • In another bowl, use an electric mixer to cream the butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy. Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract.
  • Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined. Fold in the colorful candy pieces and white chocolate chips, if using.
  • Preheat your oven to 350°F. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

Baking

  • Scoop tablespoon-sized amounts of dough and roll into balls. Place them on the prepared baking sheet, leaving about 2 inches of space between each cookie.
  • Bake the cookies in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden. Avoid overbaking to keep them soft.
  • Remove the cookies from the oven and let them cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.

Serving and Storage

  • Enjoy the cookies warm or at room temperature. They pair well with a glass of milk or as part of a snack board.
  • Store the cookies in an airtight container at room temperature for up to a week. For longer storage, freeze them in a single layer in a freezer-safe bag.
