Equipment

  • 1 9x13 inch baking pan greased or lined with parchment paper
  • 1 Mixing Bowl medium size
  • 1 Whisk

Ingredients

Dry Ingredients

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon chili powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt

Wet Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter melted
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 4 ounces dark chocolate melted

Instructions

Preparation

  • Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9x13 inch baking pan or line it with parchment paper.
  • In a medium mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, cinnamon, chili powder, and salt. Set aside.
  • In another bowl, whisk the melted butter and sugar until well combined. Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract.
  • Gently fold the melted chocolate into the wet ingredients mixture until smooth.
  • Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, stirring until just combined. Be careful not to overmix.
  • Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan and spread it evenly with a spatula. Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out with a few moist crumbs.

Serving

  • Allow the brownies to cool in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely. Cut into squares and serve.

Storage

  • Store any leftover brownies in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days or refrigerate for up to a week. For longer storage, freeze them in a sealed container for up to 3 months.

Notes

Pro Tips: Use high-quality chocolate for the best flavor. Adjust the spices to suit your taste preferences. Be sure not to overbake; a few moist crumbs on a toothpick indicate fudgy brownies.
Ingredient Substitutions: Substitute dark chocolate with semi-sweet chocolate for a milder flavor. Use coconut oil instead of butter for a dairy-free version.
How to Serve: Serve warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or a drizzle of chocolate sauce.
Storage & Freshness: Store in an airtight container. Best enjoyed within 3 days for peak freshness.
Make-Ahead Tips: Prepare the batter a day in advance and refrigerate. Bring to room temperature before baking for best results.
