Equipment

  • 1 9-inch round cake pan greased and floured
  • 1 electric mixer
  • 1 Mixing Bowl large

Ingredients

Dry Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking powder

Wet Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter softened
  • 2 large eggs room temperature

For the Brownie Batter

  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup cocoa powder
  • 1/4 cup melted butter
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

For the Cookie Dough

  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter softened
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 cup chocolate chips

Instructions

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F. Grease and flour a 9-inch round cake pan to ensure easy removal of the brownies after baking.
  • In a large mixing bowl, combine sugar, melted butter, and cocoa powder. Stir until smooth and well mixed. Add eggs and vanilla extract, mixing thoroughly. Gradually fold in flour and baking powder until combined.
  • In a separate bowl, cream together the softened butter and sugars until light and fluffy. Beat in the egg and vanilla extract. Slowly add the flour, baking powder, and salt, mixing until a dough forms. Stir in the chocolate chips.
  • Pour half of the brownie batter into the prepared pan, spreading it evenly. Drop spoonfuls of cookie dough over the batter, then cover with the remaining brownie batter. Use a knife to gently swirl the mixtures together to create a marbled pattern.
  • Place the pan in the preheated oven and bake for 45-50 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out with a few moist crumbs. Avoid over-baking to ensure a fudgy texture.
  • Allow the brownies to cool in the pan for at least 15 minutes. Then, transfer them to a wire rack to cool completely before cutting into slices.
  • Cut the cooled marbled cookie brownies into slices and serve. They pair wonderfully with a scoop of ice cream or a drizzle of chocolate sauce.
  • Store any leftover brownies in an airtight container at room temperature for up to three days. For longer storage, place them in the refrigerator for up to a week.
  • You can prepare the batters a day in advance and refrigerate them separately. Bring to room temperature before combining and baking.
