Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F. Grease and flour a 9-inch round cake pan.
  • In a mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Set aside.
  • In a large bowl, use an electric mixer to cream the butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until light and fluffy, about 3 minutes.
  • Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract.
  • Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, mixing until just combined. Fold in the chocolate chips.
  • Spread the dough evenly in the prepared cake pan.
  • Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until the edges are golden brown and the center is slightly set.
  • Remove the cake from the oven and let it cool in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
