Equipment

  • 1 cupcake tray lined with paper liners
  • 1 electric mixer
  • 1 Mixing Bowl large

Ingredients

Cupcake Batter

  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter softened
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup milk

Cinnamon Frosting

  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter softened
  • 2 cups powdered sugar
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 2 tbsp milk

Cinnamon Sugar Topping

  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon

Instructions

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F. In a large mixing bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. Stir in vanilla extract.
  • In another bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, cinnamon, and salt. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the creamed mixture, alternating with milk, beginning and ending with the flour mixture.
  • Line a cupcake tray with paper liners. Divide the batter evenly among the liners, filling each two-thirds full.

Baking

  • Bake in the preheated oven for 18-20 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. Let the cupcakes cool completely on a wire rack.

Frosting and Topping

  • In a bowl, beat together the butter, powdered sugar, cinnamon, and milk until smooth and creamy. Adjust the consistency with more milk if needed.
  • Once the cupcakes are cool, frost them using a piping bag or a spatula. Mix sugar and cinnamon together for the topping, and sprinkle it over the frosted cupcakes.

Serving

  • Serve the cupcakes immediately for the best flavor and texture. Pair with your favorite hot beverage.

Storage

  • Store any leftover cupcakes in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days. For longer storage, keep them in the refrigerator.
