Equipment

  • 1 microwave-safe mug
  • 1 spoon for mixing

Ingredients

Dry Ingredients

  • 4 tbsp all-purpose flour
  • 4 tbsp granulated sugar
  • 2 tbsp unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/8 tsp baking powder
  • pinch of salt

Wet Ingredients

  • 2 tbsp milk
  • 2 tbsp vegetable oil

Instructions

Preparation

  • In a microwave-safe mug, combine the flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt. Mix well to ensure even distribution of the baking powder and cocoa.
  • Pour in the milk and vegetable oil. Stir the mixture thoroughly with a spoon until smooth and no dry spots remain.
  • If you desire, fold in any additional ingredients such as chocolate chips or nuts. These can add extra flavor and texture to your brownie.
  • Place the mug in the microwave and cook on high for about 1 to 1.5 minutes. Monitor closely to avoid overcooking. The top should be set, but the inside will be moist.
  • Carefully remove the mug from the microwave. Check if the brownie is cooked by gently touching the surface; it should spring back slightly.
  • Allow the brownie to cool for a minute before enjoying. This helps it to set further and makes it easier to handle.
  • Enjoy your mug brownie as is, or add a scoop of ice cream or a dollop of whipped cream for an extra treat.
  • If you have any leftovers, cover the mug with plastic wrap and store in the refrigerator for up to 2 days. Reheat in the microwave for 15-20 seconds before serving.
  • Prepare the dry mix in advance and store in small containers for quick access. Just add the wet ingredients when ready to make a brownie.

Notes

Pro Tips: Use a wide mug for even cooking. Experiment with add-ins like chocolate chips or a pinch of cinnamon. Ingredient Substitutions: Whole wheat flour can be used instead of all-purpose flour. How to Serve: Best served warm, with or without ice cream. Storage & Freshness: Store leftovers in the fridge, covered. Make-Ahead Tips: Pre-mix dry ingredients for faster preparation next time.
