  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup almond flour
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp nutmeg

  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter softened
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs room temperature
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup milk

  • 1 tbsp lemon juice

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9-inch round cake pan to prevent sticking.
  • Peel, core, and slice the apples into thin wedges. Toss them with lemon juice to prevent browning and set aside.

Mixing the Batter

  • In a large mixing bowl, cream the butter and sugar together using an electric mixer until light and fluffy, about 3-5 minutes.
  • Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. Mix in the vanilla extract until combined.
  • In a separate bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, almond flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, cinnamon, and nutmeg.
  • Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, alternating with milk, and mix until just combined. Fold in the sliced apples gently.

Baking

  • Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan and smooth the top. Bake in the preheated oven for 45-50 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  • Allow the cake to cool in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring it to a wire rack to cool completely. Serve warm or at room temperature.
