Equipment

  • 1 muffin pan lined with cupcake liners
  • 1 electric mixer
  • 1 Mixing Bowl large

Ingredients

Dry Ingredients

  • 1 and 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 and 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp salt

Wet Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter softened
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs room temperature
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup milk

Frosting

  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter softened
  • 3 cups powdered sugar
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • Assorted sprinkles and edible decorations

Instructions

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F and line a muffin pan with cupcake liners.
  • In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt until combined.
  • In a large bowl, using an electric mixer, cream the butter and sugar together on medium speed until light and fluffy, about 3 minutes.
  • Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract.
  • Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, alternating with the milk, beginning and ending with the dry ingredients. Mix until just combined.
  • Divide the batter evenly among the cupcake liners, filling each about two-thirds full.
  • Bake for 18-20 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. Allow cupcakes to cool in the pan for 5 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
  • In a large bowl, beat the butter on high speed until creamy. Add the powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla extract. Beat on high until smooth and fluffy.
  • Once the cupcakes are completely cool, frost them using a piping bag. Add sprinkles and edible decorations for a festive look.

Serving

  • Arrange the decorated cupcakes on a serving platter. Serve at room temperature and enjoy with your favorite holiday beverage.

Storage

  • Store any leftover cupcakes in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days. For longer storage, refrigerate for up to a week.
