Equipment

  • 1 saucepan for browning butter
  • 1 Mixing Bowl large
  • 1 Baking Sheet lined with parchment paper

Ingredients

Dry Ingredients

  • 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp salt

Wet Ingredients

  • 1 cup unsalted butter browned and cooled
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract

Add-ins

  • 2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips

Instructions

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  • In a saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Stir continuously until it turns a deep golden brown and emits a nutty aroma. Remove from heat and let it cool slightly.
  • In a large mixing bowl, combine the cooled brown butter, brown sugar, granulated sugar, and vanilla extract. Beat until well combined. Add the eggs one at a time, mixing thoroughly after each addition.
  • In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, mixing until just combined.
  • Fold in the chocolate chips until evenly distributed throughout the dough.
  • Cover the dough with plastic wrap and chill in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes.
  • Scoop the chilled dough onto the prepared baking sheet, spacing the balls about 2 inches apart.
  • Bake in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges are golden brown. Remove from the oven and let them cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes.
  • Transfer the cookies to a wire rack to cool completely before serving.

Serving and Storage

  • Enjoy your cookies fresh out of the oven or with a glass of milk or a cup of coffee.
  • Store cookies in an airtight container at room temperature for up to a week. For longer storage, freeze in a sealed bag for up to 3 months.
