Equipment

  • 1 9-inch round cake pan greased and floured
  • 1 electric mixer
  • 1 Mixing Bowl large

Ingredients

Brownie Layer

  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter melted
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/3 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon baking powder

Cheesecake Layer

  • 8 oz cream cheese softened
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9-inch round cake pan.
  • In a large mixing bowl, stir together melted butter and sugar until well combined. Add eggs and vanilla extract, mixing until smooth. Gradually add in cocoa powder, flour, salt, and baking powder, stirring until just combined. Pour the brownie batter into the prepared pan and spread it evenly.
  • In a separate bowl, beat the softened cream cheese with sugar until smooth. Add the egg and vanilla extract, beating until fully incorporated. The mixture should be creamy and free of lumps.
  • Spoon the cheesecake mixture over the brownie batter in the pan. Use a knife or skewer to gently swirl the cheesecake into the brownie batter, creating a marbled effect. Be careful not to over-mix.
  • Place the pan in the oven and bake for 45 to 50 minutes, or until the edges are set and the center is slightly jiggly. Remove from the oven and allow the brownies to cool completely in the pan.
  • Once cooled, refrigerate the brownies for at least an hour to set the cheesecake layer. Slice into bars and serve chilled or at room temperature.
  • Store any leftover brownies in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to five days. For longer storage, wrap individual bars in plastic wrap and freeze for up to two months.
  • Serve these brownies as is, or with a scoop of vanilla ice cream for an extra indulgent treat. They pair beautifully with a cup of coffee or a glass of milk.
