  • 1 cup caramel sauce
  • 1 box yellow cake mix
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter sliced
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp ground nutmeg

Preparation

  • Wash, peel, and core the apples. Slice them thinly and toss with cinnamon and nutmeg in a mixing bowl.
  • Spread the apple mixture evenly in the bottom of a greased 9x13-inch baking dish. Drizzle the caramel sauce over the apples.
  • Sprinkle the cake mix evenly over the apples and caramel. Do not stir.
  • Place slices of butter evenly on top of the cake mix.

Baking

  • Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Bake for 45-50 minutes until the top is golden brown and the sides are bubbling.

Serving

  • Allow the cake to cool slightly before serving. Serve warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or whipped cream.
