Equipment

  • 1 9x13 inch baking pan greased
  • 1 Mixing Bowl large
  • 1 Whisk
  • 1 Spatula

Ingredients

Brownie Base

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter melted
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Toppings

  • 1 cup red white, and blue candies
  • 1/2 cup white chocolate chips
  • Optional: edible glitter

Instructions

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F. Grease a 9x13-inch baking pan and set aside.
  • In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt. Set aside.
  • In a large bowl, combine the melted butter and sugar, stirring until well mixed. Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract.
  • Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, stirring until just combined. Be careful not to overmix.
  • Pour the brownie batter into the prepared pan, spreading it evenly. Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out with a few moist crumbs. Remove from oven and allow to cool completely in the pan on a wire rack.
  • Once cooled, arrange the red, white, and blue candies on top of the brownies to resemble the American flag. Use white candies to create the stripes and blue candies for the field of stars.
  • Sprinkle white chocolate chips over the top and add edible glitter if desired for a festive sparkle.

Serving

  • Slice the brownies into squares or rectangles, maintaining the flag pattern, and serve with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream for added indulgence.

Storage

  • Store any leftover brownies in an airtight container at room temperature for up to three days, or refrigerate for up to a week.
