  • 1 Mixing Bowl medium size
  • 1 Spatula

Ingredients

Brownie Batter

  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/3 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 large egg

Optional Add-ins

  • 1/2 cup chopped nuts
  • 1/4 cup chocolate chips
  • 1/4 cup dried fruits

Instructions

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease an 8x8 inch baking pan or line it with parchment paper.
  • In a medium-sized bowl, melt the butter in the microwave or over a stovetop. Allow it to cool slightly before proceeding.
  • Add the granulated sugar and unsweetened cocoa powder to the melted butter. Stir until the mixture is smooth and well combined.
  • Beat in the large egg and vanilla extract until the mixture is smooth and glossy.
  • Gently stir in the all-purpose flour and salt. Mix until just combined, being careful not to overmix.
  • Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan, spreading it evenly with a spatula. Add any optional ingredients if desired.
  • Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes. Check for doneness by inserting a toothpick into the center; it should come out with a few moist crumbs.
  • Allow the brownies to cool in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack. Cool completely before slicing.
  • Serve the brownies as is or warm with a scoop of your favorite ice cream.
  • Store any leftover brownies in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days, or refrigerate for up to a week.
